Thanks to a donation from Serbs living in the United States, through the project of the American Medical Association for Healthcare Assistance, the Health Station in the town of Ušće, located in the Ibar Gorge, was fully renovated and completed in 2025, to the great satisfaction of both patients and healthcare staff. The facility is located 52 kilometers from its parent health center in Kraljevo.
The renovation was comprehensive, from floor to roof. The previously deteriorated façade was restored, gutters were replaced, the building received entirely new windows and doors, walls were repainted, electrical and other installations were upgraded, ceilings were lowered, and new flooring was installed. As a result, the clinic is now a fully functional, modern health center that no longer suffers from leaks or weather-related damage.
“We now essentially have a completely new — yet long-standing — outpatient clinic in Ušće, exactly what the residents of this area and the employees of the clinic truly deserve,” said Dr. Krčevinac.
The Health Station in Ušće provides primary healthcare services to approximately 6,000 residents of this rural region and oversees four satellite outpatient clinics in the villages of Gokčanica, Rudno, Studenica, and Mlanča. Following the renovation, patients no longer need to travel to Kraljevo for routine medical care, as the center is now fully equipped with modern amenities and medical equipment, allowing healthcare services to be delivered locally under appropriate conditions.
With improved infrastructure and the continued expertise, knowledge, and professionalism of its staff, the renovated health center now offers significantly higher-quality, accessible, and reliable care for the community it serves.
