Fall 2014

Dear Friends of SAMA,

Welcome to another edition of the SAMA Newsletter. We would like to give you an update on the SAMA activities and financials since the beginning of the year.

This year, so far, we have collected over $33,000 and provided almost $30,000 in help to Health Centers in Serbia. Last May, after the flood disaster in Serbia, SAMA immediately set up a Flood Relief Fund, and collected $15,400. With that money we were able to send urgently needed cleaning materials, disinfectants and medical supplies to Centers in Svilajnac, Požega, and Paraćin and a Defibrillator to the Health Center in Krupanj.

Sofija Knezevic photo Fall Fundraiser:
November 7th 2014, 8PM

The SAMA fall fundraiser is planned for November 7th, 2014 at 8PM. Our goal is to collect $10k to be used for the purchase of ultrasound equipment for Serbian hospitals.

Our special guest will be a young jazz singer from New York, Sofija Knežević. Reception following the Performance. Wines from Serbia will be served.

This will be a great opportunity to get familiar with several projects SAMA has completed or is working on at this time. This event is jointly organized with our friends from the Orfelin Circle.    Read More...

Ivan & Marija Observership Program

The primary purpose of the observer program is to expose current students and new graduates of Serbian Medical Schools to the style and the standard of medicine and medical research practiced in the US. This project aims to broaden the scope of this individual's academic curriculum and provide a unique learning experience in an American professional environment, as well as promote co-operation between today’s and future generations of physicians from Serbia and the United States.  Read More...

Celgene logo Doctors Social

SAMA organized a doctor's social at the Aksentijevich residence on September 13th. The event was sponsored by Celgene and it was very well attended. This was an opportunity to exchange views and ideas, particularly those that would be useful to younger doctors. A big thank you to Celgene and Drs. Turkey Chase logo Join SAMA for Turkey Chase

Kill two birds with one stone: make some room for that delicious turkey, and enjoy being outside with your friends while supporting a good cause! Give back to those in need this Thanksgiving and help raise awareness in our local community by representing SAMA at the 32nd annual Turkey Chase Run in Bethesda, MD on November 27th.
